SOLVED! These suspects turned themselves in on July 20, 2020.

ORIGINAL BULLETIN: PCSO Homicide detectives have obtained arrest warrants for first degree murder, armed robbery, and tampering with evidence for 20-year-old Sedrick Myers, and 18-year-old Cory Bowland, Jr., in the murder of 22-year-old Deonta Bugg of Haines City.

As previously released: around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, the PCSO Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received two different 911 calls about a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Days Inn motel located at 43700 US Hwy 27 in Davenport. When first responders arrived, they found the 22-year-old black male victim from Haines City with a gunshot wound to the chest, laying on the ground. He was transported to the Heart of Florida Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives learned from the witness and evidence at the scene that the victim was renting a room at the motel, from where he was selling marijuana. The witness told detectives that the victim was meeting someone he talked with on Snapchat to sell marijuana; the victim went outside and talk with 2 occupants of a white truck. The victim came back to his motel room to get the drugs, at which time he told the witness that he had a "bad feeling" he was going to be robbed during the transaction. The witness watched as the victim went back down to the parking lot and saw him talking to the people inside an older model white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The witness then saw a black male inside the truck shoot the victim, then the truck fled the scene. The truck was last seen heading south on US Hwy 27 towards Haines City. Another witness working nearby on a construction site also saw the shooting and the suspect vehicle. A partial tag number was obtained.

Detectives ran several variations of the partial tag number into law enforcement databases, and came up with a possible registered owner living in Lake Hamilton. They responded to a Lake Hamilton address, and found the white truck. Detectives talked with the registered owner of the truck, who told them that Cory Bowland borrowed the truck that day. Detectives learned that Bowland picked up Myers, and that Myers shot the victim at the Days Inn parking lot.

These suspects are to be considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS!
