Davenport man arrested for exposure of sexual organs

Media Contact: Carrie Horstman, Media Relations Administrator

David AcostaThe Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Davenport man on Sunday, June 21, 2026, who flagged down a woman in Davenport under the pretense of asking for directions, then masturbated in front of her.

The victim was walking her dogs outside her apartment complex on U.S. Hwy 27 near Four Corners Blvd. when 35-year-old David Acosta of Davenport pulled up beside her in his Tesla SUV and asked her for directions. She immediately noticed that he was masturbating, and she yelled at him, at which point he drove away.

After the victim contacted the Sheriff's Office and gave them the information on the Tesla, deputies learned it is registered in Texas to Acosta, but the tag is expired. He was positively identified as the suspect and he was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with exposure of sexual organs (M1) and received a traffic citation for the expired registration.

We're not real sure why this suspect chose to do what he did - he brought attention upon himself and is now charged with a crime. He needs to keep his pants on and both hands on the wheel when he's driving around Polk County.” – Grady Judd, Sheriff
