Countywide burglary trend

Nov 21, 2022
Media Contact : Carrie Horstman

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary trend involving the theft of Square D brand Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) circuit breakers from homes under construction.

So far this year, a total of 25 neighborhoods in central Florida have been hit. In Polk County, approximately 50 houses have been burglarized, specifically in Winter Haven, Davenport, and the southeast portion of the county. The suspects are possibly driving a white pickup truck, and may speak Spanish. Homes under construction are targeted, and no other items are stolen except the breakers from the main circuit panel.

If you have information about this burglary trend, please contact the Southeast District at 863-678-4170.
